Brussels is the capital of Belgium & municipality region of Belgium which comprises of 19 municipalities. Brussels- Capital Region is situated in the central portion of the country and it is a part of both the Flemish Community
and the French Community of Belgium. Brussels rose from a small rural settlement on the river Senne to become a prominent city-region in Europe. The Brussels-Capital Region is officially bilingual in both Dutch and French.
Brussels is also increasingly becoming multilingual. English is spoken as a second language by nearly a one-third ofthe population and many expatriates and migrants speak other languages as well. Brussels is known for its gastronomy and cuisine, as well as for its architectural and historical landmarks. Some of them are enlisted as UNESCO World Heritage sites.
