Biography:

Martin Ntwaeaborwa is a Professor in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics at the University of the Witwatersrand where he has been employed since October 2016. He was previously working for the University of the Free State.  He received his BSc degree, BSc Honours and MSc degrees, all from the Mafikeng Campus of the North West University in 1997, 1998 and 2000, respectively, and he received his PhD degree from the University of the Free State in 2006. He has served in many capacities with the South African Nanotechnology Initiative (SANi) including President in 2012 – 2016.  He was the deputy dean of the Southern African Young Scientists Summer Programme in 2012 – 2015 that was co-organized by the South Africa government and the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA). Professor Ntwaeaborwa was the director of the Unesco-Twas Centre of Excellence for the advancement of science in developing countries.

Research Interest
His research interests are surface science and powders and thin films of optoelectrionics nanomaterials applied to solid state lighting, solar cells and phototherapy.
