Biography:

Dr. Fadia Khodor El Bitar is currently working at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, Head of Complex Diseases Genomics Section. The objectives of this project are focused in three parameters: 1) looking for genetic cause of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) in Saudi patients, 2) Finding AD modeling derived from Saudi patients by converting fibroblasts to neurons which will permit to have brain cells related to AD in a dish, 3) Discovery of drug(s) that can reduce the toxic effect of amyloid peptides causing AD and studying its effect on neuronal cells derived from Alzheimer’s patient.

Her on-going research projects are -Defining genetic basis of AD and its related disorders in Saudi patients; Finding an appropriate drug(s) to reduce the presence of toxic beta proteins that causes AD.
