Biography:

Beatriz Llamusi Troisi is currently working as Project Leader and senior post-doctoral researcher at University of Valencia. She has a Ph.D Institute of Biomedicine of Valencia, Spain, DEA Institute of Neuroscience, University of Elche, Spain, Neuroscience and B.Sc. University of Miguel Hernández, Spain, Biochemistry. Her scientific career has been focused on generating animal models of human diseases to study the molecular basis of pathogenesis and potential treatments. As a postdoc, she has been involved in all of the projects developed in the laboratory of Prof. Artero since 2007, and she has contributed with additional articles specialized in understanding the molecular basis of human diseases, mainly Myotonic Dystrophy type 1 (DM1), type 2 (DM2), and Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).

The overall objective of her work is the translation of her research into the society's needs. Accordingly, they have discovered four anti-DM1 compounds, which are protected by patents and have been licensed to biotechnological companies. As a proof of her independence and leadership as a researcher, She has been awarded two research grants, aiming the improvement of active compounds that we have previously discovered and the novel study of Drosophila heart performance.
